This building is a wonderful landmark if you're looking for the intersection of Central Park West and 106th Street. When I first moved into the neighborhood, I knew it, from hearsay, as the "Vanderbilt Mansion", another of the residences of the 19th century millionaire ( today, zillionaire!) Cornelius Vanderbilt and extended family. I was, however, disenfranchised from this rumour by my friend who drives one of those double-decker tour buses: it was built as a specialized cancer hospital in the early 1905s. The prevailing theory, at that time, was that "corners collected germs", so this hospital was built as a series of interconnected round turrets! It has since been converted into a Very High-End conapt residence that maybe even old Cornelius V. would have trouble affording! The parking area here also incorporates a Tesla Charging Station, for those of you so inclined!
