Had a great experience working with Fred at Xenirad on a custom shorted-stub project for one of our stations here in the Raleigh market. Delivery was quick despite being a custom order and the craftsmanship of the stub was very impressive. So far so good!

We found out about xenirad after several of our transmitters needed PA replacements from lightning in the same month. Now that we have 1/4 wave stubs installed at our larger transmitter sites and some smaller sites we have had 0 PA module failures. We have also noticed increased coverage on some of our AM/FM colocation sites and will be installing stubs at all of those sites across the next year.

Support has been great when shipping damaged one of the stubs, a quick call and a screw later Fred had us fixed!

Needed a 1/4 wave stub to protect a new transmitter from lightning killing modules and Xenirad was recommended by others. In talking with Fred Francis, he was able to address my needs in developing a stub with an offset to clear my coax switch. The stub arrived and installation was a breeze. Did not need to adjust tuning on the stub as the transmitter's forward and reflected readings did not change. Been through a couple of significant electrical storms with no module loss so would say the stub is working as intended. If I build any new sites or upgrade older ones I will be adding Xenirad stubs.

These quarter wave stubs are amazing. I have them on all of our FM transmitters and STLs plus the STL 950 MHz receivers. They are well made and protect from lightning.

Fred provides quality work and speedy support on demand, and brings many years of experience to the table to solve virtually any problem. Having Fred on speed dial to get something resolved quickly in the RF world is a must! He also can build just about anything you need to accomplish your goals or needs. This includes the 1/4 Wave Shorting Stubs he builds himself. We had an unstable/vulnerable FM transmitter site that really benefitted from the stub, so much so that when the antenna went bad (the main reason we got the stub to keep transmitter happy) we kept it with the new antenna. The stub also provides lightning protection for the transmitter - something we also had issues with until the stub was installed, never again since. “Better Call Fred!”

I would highly recommend the Xenirad 1/4 wave shorting stub to protect solid state transmitters, STL's, etc. Another plus is they suppress harmonics if your FM antennas are co-located on an AM tower. I immediately noticed signal improvements in multi-path prone areas The craftsmanship of the shorting stub rivals anything you will see from Myat, ERI. Give Fred at Xenirad a call for any of your engineering needs.
