The other reviews are exactly what this company is like. The first problem is they charge 30$ for an application fee and in WI the maximum amount is 25$. They don't return the extra 5$ or credit you. FIRST RED FLAG....

They entered my apartment w/o notice to repair a light bulb, never told me they made the nonemergency repair, they committed fraud on my government documents, every package is stolen, people trespassing and using drugs in the hallways, men sexually harrasing you, constant police activity, they blamed me for paying their gas utility bill for 12 months and I had to fight for the credit back, don't show up to appointments, they don't answer calls, we didn't have any hot water for 7 days during August and they never sent out any communication or told us when it was fixed even, rather than addressing the criminal activities going on they take away the option to enter the building through more than the main door and never put up notice or explain why. Old women were getting locked outside because they didn't realize they couldn't get back in if the door closed behind them anymore. I could go on and on. THIS MANAGEMENT IS HORRIBLE AND NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE!

Possibly one of the worst rental companies I’ve ever had to deal with. After making multiple calls at different times of the day that are in their listed business hours, no one has answered the phone in regards to issues I’ve had with the property they own. Emails do not get responses, phone calls and voicemails get ignored. I will not recommend any properties under this management company for absolutely being ignored & taking money. All I asked was for the situation to be resolved and to be answered but that’s asking for too much.

Slum landlords......

On top of living conditions akin to a slum, the landlord kept our deposit for painting and cleaning after we moved out. We are told they do this to every tenant. We took video of the condition we left the unit in when we left and can provide documentation. For us, it's a small amount of money as we were market rate renters. But for the predominantly low-income renters, I worry this is the company's practice. This is in relation to printworks mills in Greensboro, NC. This is on top of the mold growing in our unit, water coming through the windows, fire alarm going off every night, buckling floors, broken faucet, no maintenance response to tickets, folks living in the gym locker room, leasing staff stealing packages after the drivers deliver to the package room, and I could go on and on.

I repeat, these are slum landlords.

Where do i start? These ppl who work at this company down to the owner is not very compassionate or caring about people. All they care about is money.. not if you fall on their property, if your packages are getting stolen and cars getting broke in to due to the lack of cameras and security around the building, not if your car is being vandalized on the property or windows getting letting air in and water dripping through the windows. Smh these people are very stand offish and rude. If your looking to rent please look elsewhere. This is just the icing on the cake

Anyone thinking of renting from Alexander Company should exhaust other options first. Horrible experience after horrible experience at Artisan Village apartments. Plowed my car in then tried to charge me a fee for it, no guest parking and yes they will tow your guests immediately, constant public threats to the entire complex that we will be charged fees that were not disclosed in the lease, constant inspections with no real direction on why they are being done, not enforcing non-smoking components of the lease, maintenance work started but never finished, not responsive to emails, rude immediately upon answering their phone, maintenance entering multiple apartments without giving proper notice, incorrectly calculating deposits and then blaming you for their error. This list goes on and on. If I listed everything we'd be here for days. Oh and I am only 6 months into my lease! Can't wait to see what fresh hell awaits me after they see this review but it had to be said. Only thing going for them is that the apartments look nice.

In addition to all of this, we had an issue with our fire alarms that they did not address quickly, however the bigger issue comes from how they handled it in the moment. When we had alarms going off their "emergency line" refused the fire dept access to confirm that it was just a faulty alarm and we weren't actually in danger. I'm not at all confident in this company's ability to keep their tenants safe.

Staff was unfriendly and unwilling to work with us from the very beginning, we applied for an income restricted apartment, made an in person appointment in an attempt to try to speed up the process to get everything we needed to show in order to verify income and make it easier for everyone. The application process was over a month long, and we would have to wait days for an email response about simple things. I did everything in my power to ensure we would be able to finish the application and be approved. After over a month, I was told we were denied because of a mistake on the application. I am still unsure whether we should have been denied or not. Was given very little explanation or transparency throughout the entire process. I was notified of the denial a week before what was supposed to be the move in date. I am still without a place to live. Wrote a letter for reconsideration, the staff’s response felt abrupt and disrespectful.

Extremely rude and unprofessional compliance staff. After receiving a denial letter for making over the income limit, I had some questions. I called the office several times to try to speak with someone as I wasn’t understanding over email, (I consulted with other people who agreed that the answers and the method of explanation was unclear) and was not given a call back, but instead met with continuous discrediting and demeaning emails. I stated that I understood the denial, but wasn’t understanding where the numbers derived from since I didn’t have documentation and felt it was just a mistake I made on one form. Instead of explaining kindly, they insinuated that I was attempting to be fraudulent when I honestly just had questions for my future knowledge. I have never been met with such obvious disrespect and intolerance. I do wonder if the way I was treated was a discriminatory issue.

This apartment company had my car towed illegally while I was DELIVERING GROCERIES TO A QUARANTINED FRIEND due do COVID-19, and then refused to provide any sort of help getting the car back. I was parked legally for a total of 30 minutes. My friend has WRITTEN PROOF from the landlord saying guests can park there, and the landlord still refused to do anything. This cost me over 300 dollars and caused me to miss work. They have illegally towed her car as well (FOR NO REASON WHEN SHE HAD A PERMIT DISPLAYED AND WAS PARKED CORRECTLY), and SHE LIVES THERE.
