This is for my second visit. During our 1st stay, we realized that there are certain things that we would sacrifice due to the age of the hotel. On our 1st visit the sacrifice was well worth it as compared to the history, beauty, and location of the hotel. We returned for a second stay and we reserved a cottage with a fire place (719). I am semi OK with a dirty floor as I always wear slippers, but many other things where absolutely unbearable and for that reason, I will never stay at the Ahwahnee again. We left a day early as we could not take another night.

- The room was barely cleaned. Crumbs on the floor and items still in the fridge.
- The shower floor was absolutely disgusting and I had to wear my slippers in the shower. My wife and daughter refused to shower. We left one day early and forfeited our free night just to get out of the room.
- The worse part was the curtains. There is a lot of them to open and close and they are ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!! Not too much cost in replacing curtains or at least washing them.

Regardless of the price or the deals, I will never stay at the Ahwahnee again πŸ™

This hotel is ideally situated and grand.
However, it has a tired feel throughout.
The staff are delightfully and a special thanks to Stephen, at the bar, and Basil at reception. Both very helpful and informative.
We dined in the amazing dining hall and the beef was wonderful. Sadly the rest of the offering was poor. For instance, sloppy mash and no other potato alternative. The beef deserved to be served with roast potatoes, perhaps parsnips and cauliflower cheese. Without these, the meal was over priced.
Our waitress explained about the long running kitchen refurbishment and operating from a container, which limits the offering. Perhaps another container should be considered as this has been going on for two years.
Our waitress was delightful, but I am sorry I cannot remember her name.
All the staff were very pleasant and overall we enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful architecture and history. Grand public spaces. Tired rooms that need maintenance and detailing. Broken blinds, sagging curtains, beat up paint and surfaces. Loved eating in the bar; dining room prices are extreme. Mixed service from employees - some great and some not. Our room wasn't ready until 5 pm and check in is at 4. That meant that we couldn't do our before dinner walk. Not off to a good start.

VASTLY overpriced all across the board. The dining prices were simply insane: $32 pp for breakfast buffet and $63 pp for dinner buffet. The "Short Rib Sandwich" in the bar tasted like beef with ketchup or spaghetti sauce. The potato chips had zero crunch ... soft and very chewy in an unpleasant way. They have a captive audience, so they milk that audience for every dime they can get! POOR VALUE FOR MONEY!

My experience at The Ahwahnee was ok until I discovered an overcharge two days after checkout. I had booked a three-night stay under two separate reservations due to a change in room typeβ€”two nights in the Prime View Double and one night in the Library Suite.

During checkout, the front desk informed me that the hotel had not properly transferred my reservations, resulting in a higher than expected bill. They assured me that the manager, who had the authority to override the system, would address the issue later that day. I was told I would receive an email with the corrected bill, which should be around $460.

However, after two days without any communication from the hotel, I reviewed my credit card transactions and discovered a charge of $1,001β€”far exceeding the expected amount. The rooms were prepaid, and my only additional charges were for one dinner and breakfast at the bar. Without any directly way of contacting the hotel, I have disputed the charge with my credit card company.

While the hotel staff was courteous and friendly, they failed to follow through on their commitments. This is not a singular event during my three night stay. For a four-star hotel, this level of service is extremely unprofessional, and I am deeply disappointed by my experience at the Ahwahnee.

We come to Yosemite a couple times a year and this time we decided to stay in a cottage at the Ahwahnee. It was definitely worth it. I've stayed in the rooms before, but the cottages have an entirely different feel to the whole experience of staying at the Ahwahnee in the valley! The cottage was phenomenal! The staff was incredible. The pool and the restaurant were great. The entire experience was amazing. We will absolutely be making it a priority to stay at the cottages again in the future!

The Valley... breathtaking. The lodge... majestic. The service... engaging, wonderful and attentive.

Right from the start Basil, Brent and Renee welcomed us a warm hello and settled us in quickly. Basil went above and beyond when it came to reservations, friendliness and helpful insight into all the Lodge and Park can offer! You know it's going to be a great experience when you get the opportunity to meet and engage with people like him!

The only reservation from awarding a full 5 star experience is the detail/comfort/amenities within the room once checked in. Even with that, we look forward to the remainder of our trip and coming back again!
