I purchased a custom dresser from Surfridge Design in May 2020. I ordered soft close drawers. However, the drawers always get stuck, and rarely soft close. (Pic attached). Also, a few months ago, one of the knobs came loose. (Pic attached).

On Dec. 21, 2023, I asked Seth to fix the issues. The same day, he said he could take a look at the issue in the beginning of January 2024.

On Jan. 14, 2024, I asked Seth via text if he could do the repairs that week. Seth ignored the text.

On Jan. 16, 2024, I asked Seth via text to get back to me re: the dresser. The same day Seth apologized for the delay, said he had been sick and that he had been "trying to catch up with alot of different things". I then replied by asking him "what date would work for you" (to fix the dresser). Seth never bothered replying to this last text.

On Jan. 23, 2024 (after Seth had ignored my text for one week), I asked Seth via text if he was available that week to repair the dresser. Seth ignored this text as well.

On Jan. 26, 2024, I left Seth a voicemail asking when he planned on repairing the dresser. I then asked Seth via text if he was still going to make himself available to repair the dresser. That day Seth apologized, stating that he works by himself and has multiple projects going on. He said he was doing his best to figure out a time and that his schedule was very tight at that moment.

On Jan. 28, 2024, I asked Seth via text whether he could make time to fix the dresser in the next two weeks. Seth again ignored my text.

The dresser looks nice, but is only average craftsmanship (due to the drawers' failure to soft close and loose knob after only about 3.5 years of use. I've had Ikea furniture that has lasted longer without accessories coming loose.

Also very disappointing that Seth refused to correct issues with the subpar craftsmanship of this dresser despite my several requests.

First off, I don’t do reviews. It isn’t for any reason other than I don’t have the time. I couldn't recommend Surfridge Design enough. I happened upon them and it was the most amazing experience I have ever had with any type of craftsmanship. We are building a brewery and tasting room in Glendale. We started with one piece, and it was so amazing that we had them build multiple tables, OUR FREAKING BAR (which is the most important thing in a tasting room) and it is AMAZEBALLS….as well as about 10 other projects thought out the space. They have been timely, accommodating, friendly, SUPER professional, and the price is more than fair. Never once did my nose crinkle thinking “mmmmm how bad do we want this?”

One other thing to mention is that we had them do a TON of projects, and I know they had other stuff going on too. They always made us feel like we were the only client, and coming from the industry I come from, I know how important (and difficult) that is.

Use them, use them, use them!!! That is all I have to say. I will be referring them to anyone and everyone I can. Luckily our tasting room is pretty much a business card for them so I will likely have a stack of their actual cards on our bar. :-p. Thanks from the crew at Paperback Brewing in Glendale, CA.

I commissioned this custom bed frame from Surfridge Design to match a vintage dresser I already had. Not only did Surfridge build a beautiful solid oak bed for me, but it was very reasonably priced. It's designed to come apart easily for transport and is extremely sturdy. The photos truly do not do justice to how gorgeous it is! It makes me incredibly happy to know that this will probably be the last bed frame I ever have to buy. It will definitely last a lifetime!

So happy I managed to find Surfridge. It's not easy to find someone to work with on custom furniture that not only has a good eye for design and is able to execute it flawlessly, but also manages to communicate well throughout the process and deliver the work on time. Seth is a pro through and through - his attention to detail is incredible and the quality of his work is unmatched. I love the pieces he's made for me so much that I've already commissioned Surfridge to do custom pieces for my patio.

You'll find lots of builders in LA who are as skilled as Seth Bergstrom but you will not find many who are as conscientious about using sustainable materials nor as patient and flexible as Seth. I approached Seth with a very specific, complicated, and personally VERY important project I needed on a deadline. He took the time to work with me to design a piece that would meet my exact needs. He took the time to understand my vision and really involved me in the design process. The final outcome exceeded my expectations and was very reasonably priced.

I approached many makers before finally finding Seth and I can tell you that there are lots of "custom furniture" makers out there who don't want to take the time to work with you on the design. They'd rather build something quick with the kinds of materials they are used to working with, and move on to the next project. Not Seth.

Can't recommend Seth and Surfridge Design enough and am already planning my next two projects with him.

The walnut and ash bench I commissioned is perfect. Excellent construction and quality. The order was filled promptly and the bench was carefully packed and shipped. Should a need arise, I would not hesitate doing business with Surfridge Design again. Five stars for sure.

I had an old marble slab coffee table where the wooden base fell apart. Seth added a steel base that made it more modern and stable. He does amazing work at a great price. And is an all around nice guy!
