I visited Peach State Lumber recently to purchase some veneered plywood. The price was good and the service was good eventually. Although they sell to the public, I got the impression that they sell predominantly to contractors, recurring customers. I was treated as if I knew or should know what to do. So, I found myself standing around awkwardly a bit trying to figure out the purchase process and the loading process, etc. They did not offer much information. I had to ask everything. Where do I get it? How do I get it? Where do I pay? What should I do after I pay? You get your stuff in one place and then you go through a door into an office to pay a lady at a desk and then back out to the warehouse. Then, you wait your turn to back your vehicle up to the bay door to load or be loaded.
Its not a bad process. Its just not obvious and the employees do not proactively offer information or instructions. Its a bit frustrating for a new customer who has never been there and could be a turn-off for some that may never come back.
But, I'll be back. Now I know what to do.

I've been shopping at PSL for at least 15 years when I started woodworking. Unless they don't have the species I'm looking for, I wouldn't shop anywhere else. Their professionalism, courtesy, and friendliness is superlative and can't be beat. Not only do they cater to the professional cabinet shops, but "weekend warriors" such as myself. Buying one board or a couple of hundred board feet, they offer the same service...with a smile. They're the best. You won't be disappointed.
