After interviewing four general contractors (GCs) for my interior remodel of a 4-bedroom, 4-bath home, I chose Jonathan due to his architecture/design background, drafting skills, and extensive knowledge. Unlike other GCs who required me to work with separate architects and designers, Jonathan handled the design, drafting, and permits all in-house, which saved me a lot of time and streamlined the process. His estimated timeline for construction was also the shortest, while still offering a competitive price.

Throughout the construction, there were no delays. Jonathan adhered to the timeline and completed the project as promised. I never experienced long periods of inactivity, which is rare based on my past experiences with prior renovations. His communication was outstanding—he was always responsive and available via text and email, which made the process so much smoother.

Jonathan was also great at helping me research options and find solutions when I wanted to make changes during the project. His flexibility and problem-solving skills were invaluable.

Since the interior remodel, Jonathan has also helped us renovate our exterior, and we relied on him to redo the roof on another property. Additionally, we’ve referred him to a family member for their project. His expertise and the trust we have in him mean everything to us.

Renovating a home is a significant undertaking, and I’m grateful to have worked with someone who made the process efficient, stress-free, and enjoyable. Thanks to Jonathan, our family now has a beautifully remodeled home.

Anyone who has been through a remodel knows it's hard. Even if your contractor is AMAZING, it's hard. Having people in your home and living amongst construction and making decision after decision is stressful. This was my third round of construction and third contractor. Well, Third Times the Charm!

We consulted with several contractors and from the beginning, Jonathan set both my husband and I at ease. He brought his expertise, experience and advice to the table but only in a collaborative way. Never in a way that felt pushy or argumentative. This was a full kitchen/front of the house remodel. The kitchen was a 1939 original. Johnathan not only brought our vision to life, he enhanced it.

No job is perfect and we ran into several hiccups along the way. At one point my husband and I decided to do wood flooring in the kitchen after concrete had already been poured in prep for tile. Jonathan didn't bat an eye. Multiple times he said something along the lines of "It's your kitchen, I want you to be happy living in it." Each time we had a hiccup, I was happy with how he handled it and I love, love, LOVE the final outcome. I mean, come on, look at the pictures. The kitchen turned out FANTASTIC.

As for timeline and cost, I have no complaints. The job ran a little long but that was due to our change orders not Jonathan and he came in on budget. I would happily recommend Jonathan to anyone and everyone.

We had plans ready for a backyard remodel that included adding square footage to our house and an ADU conversion. We wanted to hire someone with experience navigating the complexities of local regulations and were going to be available to quickly respond to questions and meet us on-site. We were happy to find Jonathan, knowledgeable with Burbank construction code. He pointed out issues with our plans, which helped limit surprise costs that might have come up later. Jonathan and his team worked efficiently, great with communicating, and were always available for questions and collaboration. My husband and I hired Jonathan to convert part of our home and garage into a separate granny flat for my elderly parents. This was a project that was important to me and my family - we wanted a granny flat that felt like a lovely welcoming home, not a slapped together ADU. We are thrilled that we hired Jonathan as our contractor. Jonathan takes pride in his work and business. He pays attention to all the little details, has a great eye, makes helpful & honest suggestions, and he does not cut corners ever. He also knew all the ADA compliant codes so that door openings, showers, etc were accessible by wheelchair for my father. The end result was high quality, beautiful, and polished. Jonathan designed a layout that feels open and spacious - and managed to fit in a great room with kitchen, two bedrooms, two full baths, walk in closet, and laundry room - everything on my parent's wish list! My parents and family could not be happier with the end result. The transition from their previous huge home into this gorgeous new space has been seamless. Remodeling is stressful and hectic - but Jonathan was always available and truly made us feel like we were his only client. I had endless questions for him and he always responded quickly and patiently with thorough explanations. We will always use Metropolis for any remodeling needs!

We first met Jonathan in October 2021 right around the time that we were closing on our current condo. As we had been living in this home, and renting, for about 2 years, we had already had some ideas brewing about the updates we wanted to make. When Jonathan came over for a consultation, we walked him through what we wanted to do in our kitchen and bathrooms and he let us know the best way to go about this. He took measurements when he was there so he was prepared to answer future questions over the phone or email.

We sent him a few ideas of the design that we were looking for in each room. So after giving us a thoroughly drafted quote and a timeline (6-8 weeks for completion!), he also sent us links for items we could purchase ahead of time in order to be able to stick to the timeline as closely as possible - nothing frustrates a contractor like having to pause their project because they’re wait for items to still come in!

I was so impressed that Jonathan took time to bring me to multiple stores. He took time to show me different tiles and countertop materials that were aligned with the design ideas I initially sent him. This was a very different (and much more pleasant!) experience than a previous contractor who just directed me to websites to pick out floor/ tile materials and then I was left on my own to choose, with little to no guidance.

We scheduled Jonathan to have his team start on demo work while we were going to be out of town. This step of the process went surprisingly quickly! I will say that it’s not the easiest to live through a remodel (if you have the money or could go somewhere else for the entirety of it, that would be ideal). But, with that said, his team was beyond respectful of our space and they carefully sealed off the areas they were working on and covered the floors, so as to limit the dust and debris as best as possible.

Jonathan left us paint samples to choose from for wall color and cabinet colors. Narrowing down which “white” to use on walls is a task in itself and I was relieved that Jonathan was able to narrow down my choices to only 2 or 3 colors (again, based on pictures I had sent). The white we ultimately chose looks beautiful and fresh in our west and south facing bathrooms!

The final outcome of his team’s work was perfection. Everything came together beautifully and we couldn’t be happier with the results! (His tile guy does impeccable work - so impressed!) This was our first home and remodel, and we couldn't be happier with Jonathan's services. As newbies, we were not familiar with how to navigate the process and what to expect, and Jonathan was so patient and thorough. His design process gave us different options, at different price-points, and once we had our plan in place, Jonathan executed at the quality level we hoped for and both on-time and on-budget. As construction progressed, we found Jonathan to be extremely available and responsive, but more importantly honest about various questions and potential changes we considered. He was very blunt about changes to our original plan that were worth spending a little extra for, and others that weren't worth the expense (even if that meant less money for himself ultimately). We found him to be very creative in terms of problem-solving to achieve exactly what we were looking for. He also stood behind his work, correcting anything he felt was subpar, and in some cases just because we had changed our mind (without charging us extra). I would absolutely recommend him, and plan to use him for future projects at our home.

Jonathan and his team are nothing short of amazing. They are an absolute pleasure to work with! From the moment we met him, we knew that our home and finances would be in excellent hands. We liked him so much that we didn't even interview any other contractors/architects (which is pretty risky given that we were doing a pretty major home renovation: we turned our kitchen into a bedroom, knocked down walls and needed 2 21-foot support beams, built an entirely new kitchen and redid the floors in the entire home).

Our gut instincts were spot-on, and thankfully, Jonathan was every bit as wonderful to work with as he seemed that first day. He was very involved in the process and came pretty much daily to check on the quality of the work. He's trustworthy, caring, responsive, thorough, and just a really great guy to have around. My kids LOVED him, and still ask about him at times. Speaking of kids, we have 3 very small children and lived in the house during almost the entire remodel, and Jonathan worked out a plan so that we would have a functional kitchen throughout. Shockingly, everything went as planned... he was ON SCHEDULE or even ahead of schedule, almost the entire time. I think the only time we got pushed back a few days unexpectedly was from rain.

One of the things that I most appreciated about Jonathan is his attention to detail and very high standards. In fact, on several instances Jonathan made his team redo some of the work (i.e. repaint our entire ceiling), because he felt it didn't meet his standards, even though I hadn't noticed any imperfection until he pointed it out. I don't think many contractors operate that way.

At one point we travelled abroad for 2 weeks... My husband was super-nervous about being away while the hardwood floors were being done, and Jonathan seriously went above and beyond to keep us in the loop and involved every day. The best way to describe what a genuinely good man Jonathan is: on the day we came back, he spent over an hour helping my dad re-construct all of our kid's cribs (that's 3 cribs) just so that they'd be ready for naptime when we got back from our trip.

I was dreading the home renovation process, especially since most of my friends have had an incredibly stressful time with their projects. I think my husband and I are rarities because we actually enjoyed the process, and I know that's 90% because of what an amazing contractor Jonathan is, and how smooth he made the process. He and his team are truly exceptional in every way!!

We just finished a project with Metropolis and had a great experience. We decided to add on a master suite (~400 sq. ft.) to our existing home. We received quotes from multiple contractors and chose Metropolis because of their eye for design, competitive price and great attitude. The project was far from simple but Jonathan managed each step effectively and kept us informed throughout the whole process. His design aesthetic was a huge plus and something that we found lacking in other contractors. Our bathroom is absolutely beautiful and my favorite part of the addition. He recommended herringbone wall tile and pattered floor tile that made the bathroom Pinterest worthy! Also, he was always professional and was very accommodating at meeting with us at odd hours due to our work schedules. We also welcomed our first child in the middle of the project (!) and Jonathan and his crew were always respectful of our time and space once the baby was home. Overall, we are thrilled with the addition and grateful to Jonathan for making it happen.
