McLeod Construction just completed remodeling for us a small five-bedroom, one-bath, Seattle house built in 1931 that had hardly changed since. We are extremely pleased with the results. Quality work and clear, timely communication were the keys.

The project involved removing the old staircase to open up room for a new kitchen, then creating beautiful new curved stairways from basement to second floor. We added two bathrooms, a deck, and a dormer for upstairs bedrooms. The building required complete upgrading to current structural, electrical, and plumbing codes. The contractor and architect worked smoothly together.

McLeod’s project manager guided us through the initial bidding process, scheduling, and change orders -- making sure that we were clear about what would be done at what cost.
We had walk-throughs each week with the McLeod team over the months of work. We appreciated that finish carpentry and work detail were very skilled and attractive. Design decisions were carried out beautifully. Subcontractors appeared on schedule. City permit inspections were scheduled and passed.

We strongly recommend McLeod Construction.

I cannot say enough good things about my experience with McLeod. We had a water leak in our laundry room and I had no idea how to go about initiating repairs. McLeod took care of me every step of the way. They handled both the water remediation and repairs, and they were always on time, communicated timelines to me and walked me through everything before it took place, and were so friendly and responsive when I had questions. Everyone on their team who performed the work was detail-oriented, skilled, and helpful. I’m thrilled with the finished results and now my laundry room is like new. I will definitely recommend them to everyone and should I have future projects they’ll have my business.

The GREAT team at McLeod completed our full house renovation including new kitchen and bathrooms within the timeline agreed and budget allocated. McLeod provided a master craftsman as the superintendent who did an amazing job installing Canyon County cabinets and ensuring every detail was attended to. Quartzite countertops and appliances fit perfectly. Painting, inside and out, was performed in parallel with the other trades, ensuring they stayed on schedule. I would recommend McLeod for any home remodel.

We had a leak in our shower, and McLeod took care of everything, making it very easy for us. I don’t have to think of all the questions because they understood our needs, and Answer them before I asked. Very professional and high-quality work.

On June 16, 2022, an electrical fire devastated my condo and others in my complex. After 22 months, I finally moved back in April 2024. I had been assured in writing that I’d be back by December 2023. My condo was, for the amount of time it took, laughably incomplete. The stair handrail was missing, two bedroom walls had no electricity, switches were miswired, and the paint and flooring were damaged. The plumbing inspection had failed.

After moving in, I found more issues. The wall heaters were inadequate, leaving the downstairs just above 60 degrees in the mornings. The bathroom heater was installed with styrofoam still attached, creating a severe fire hazard. Two days after moving in, the laundry vent fan fell out of the ceiling. When I raised concerns, McLeod claimed they didn’t see the issues, or worse, implied I caused them.

McLeod took four months to address these issues, and only after I repeatedly pushed the managers, Craig and Andrea Goodmansen, for progress. I never received an apology for any of this. They offered a $1,533 “goodwill discount,” far less than the $16,000 I spent on rent, hotels, and transportation due to their delays.

The project manager repeatedly told Craig and Andrea I’d agreed to certain things I had never agreed to. Even when I provided written proof, his actions were never acknowledged. For instance, I emailed multiple times in mid- and late-2023 about how I wanted the tile in my shower placed, yet the project manager installed it incorrectly and stated that I hadn’t made a request until March 2024. I was also assured I would receive a “breakfast bar.” I received a shallow overhang. This and other false claims were never addressed or apologized for.

By the time mistakes like the shower tile surfaced, I had nowhere to live and had to move in despite the mistakes. I shouldn’t have been forced to settle for less in my own home because of McLeod’s mismanagement.

Another homeowner in our complex recently shared issues with McLeod, who, in their response, blamed delays on permitting or city issues. In reality, work stopped for long periods even after permits were granted. There was no communication about the delays, and it later became clear that the few emails or texts the project manager did respond to, he had not read.

Finally, in contrast to my experience, when my neighbors moved back over the last six weeks, their issues were quickly resolved, despite McLeod previously claiming to me that delays were unavoidable. This shows they chose to deprioritize my unit.

I had no say in choosing McLeod. Now, thanks in no small part to the delays they caused, I’m in debt, my health has suffered, and my condo isn’t what I wanted. If you have a choice, avoid McLeod Construction at all costs and, if you don’t, be prepared for delays and lengthy challenges.

Our new kitchen sink and quartz countertops are perfect, and all within our budget! We're very happy with the final result. Thank you!!! The whole team gets an A+, five-star, and highly-recommend rating from us. Val, Jonny and Marcus are most appreciated for their professionalism, attention to details, and commitment to exceptional customer service, which never went unnoticed. We can only hope to get the same crew for our next (TBD) home improvement project.

I wanted to reach out to say a huge THANK YOU! to everyone we worked with at McLeod over the past few months. Having pipes burst and water damage had the potential to be such a horrible thing…and because you are all so great, it was actually a pretty good experience. I can’t say enough good things about your people and your company. I have told EVERYONE about our experience and how easy you have all made this work and restoration. Normally during construction, everything is a disaster zone from start to finish, and we did not have that during any of this time. I was so happy to able to stay in our home before and during the repair process.

Additionally, and something I can’t say about pretty much any other company I’ve worked with, it was so nice that everything stayed to schedule and people showed up when they were expected. We were very happily surprised when we were expecting someone at 8:00 am on a Monday, and they showed up at 8:00 am on Monday. 😊 Unexpected things happen, delays happen, and that just comes with our lives. But being able to count on all of you doing your jobs and being where you said you’d be, makes our lives so much easier. (And the one time there was a delay, I received notification right away and was kept updated with the change.) Change is difficult for me, but knowing the plan made everything so much less stressful.

I know that there were more people in and out of the house and doing work throughout this entire process and I’m sorry that I don’t remember everyone’s names or didn’t meet everyone. But how your company treats their clients matters so much to all of us. You’ve touched our lives in such a positive way and it means so much that you take all that goodness and put it back in to our homes.

Thank you for everything!

As of the time of this review, my kitchen has still not even begun to be repaired after a severe water leak even though I've had two separate people out to quote. It's been like pulling teeth to get basic communication. I'm hoping to have my final estimate in hand shortly so we can FINALLY get the repairs under way.

Edit: They reached out and have finally started the process of putting together my estimate. It sounds like someone quit without telling anyone they had outstanding projects. Everything's been relatively smooth going so far but we'll see. Will update again if needed.
