My experience with Mark Scott Construction was great from start to finish. I was recommended through my insurance carrier MSC and I was initially apprehensive to sign as there weren't many choices for construction companies that work directly with insurance companies but MSC did a great job coordinating throughout the project, starting with the initial appt of surveying the property. It didn't take me long to sign with them as I felt good about what their company had to offer. Both Frank Capaldo and Don Draper were fabulous to work with and so was their crew! I experienced water damage last year and went through insurance to cover this cost. MSC were accommodating, professional and made the experience more fun because it was an initial headache and very overwhelming to deal with. Don, the main project manager, made me excited about having to repair the kitchen and alleviated a lot of stress by answering my questions along the way. They also kept clear communication, always answered my questions in a timely manner and definitely tried working within my budget and was accommodating of my time and schedule. I felt complete trust with all of their crew to be there when I couldn't be home as I felt like solid work was happening! I worked with Don directly on materials, he helped with choosing countertops and backsplash (because I'm notoriously indecisive) and I felt like I had an interior designer's help. The end results turned out fabulous! My friends always give compliments when they come over. This crew definitely turned into family and I hope to hire them on another project in the future!

I am writing this to hopefully prevent someone else from going through the experience I have.
I am talking about our experience with Mark Scott Construction. Mark Scott installed a bathtub/shower combo replacing tile and tub due to our air tub hoses failing and causing a pretty major leak. Four years later we noticed the same bubble on our ceiling which is exactly how we found the first leak from failed hoses on the tub. This is an upstairs bathroom. We immediately called a plumber who made two holes in our drywall while investigating where the leak was coming from. It was determined by the plumber that the waterproofing behind the tile was never installed properly. I then immediately called our insurance and told them what the plumber found and was told we would have to settle this with Mark Scott directly since it was determined that it was faulty workmanship. I next contacted Mark Scott Construction and they told me they would have the project manager that handled this job contact us. After numerous attempts to contact and get someone out to look at the work another project manager denied our claim. Mark Scott decided that they were not going to stand behind their work because the contract we signed four years ago only had a one year warranty. Next, when we asked to have someone else confirm this decision in writing they had another project manager take over who is still “reviewing the case”. We have still not been given a decision in writing and this has been going on since August 17, 2024. We next contacted the California State Licensing Board and Napa’s district attorney to see what our options were. Our only option was that we would have to pay for the repairs upfront and take Mark Scott Construction to small claims court. This has all been very stressful and unnecessary if Mark Scott would just have stood behind their work. I would like to mention while getting bids for tile repair two tile installers agreed that the tub and tile were not properly installed by Mark Scott. Initial plumber and both tile installers said they would sign statements saying as much. I will never use Mark Scott again for any job, big or small as I have lost all faith in the workmanship and ethics or doing the right thing.

Caleb was very helpful and attentive to client needs. 4 stars due to oversight requirements and consistent issues during project, but finished strong, floors look great and toilet was sorted out. This team does very high quality, great work.

Responding for my aging parents whose home caught fire feb 2022. Mark Scott construction was contracted by fire dept to board up home. This was the only positive process I can say they did well. The following part of the process was disaster, I cant say how deeply troubled I am to learn of all the items that had been meticulously inventoried and gone missing once the debris removal process had begun, including high end jewelry worth $40k+ and the 50 years of belongings just discarded and possiblystolen. So much was very much salvageable and had Mark Scott Construction taken the time to remove, store and clean as they were instructed, we could have preserved the life time of memories that are now lost forever. The situation was hard enough to deal with for my 80 yr old parents and to have their precious belongings come up missing was devastating. The Mark Scott team was fired immediately, we hired a public adjuster was hired to handle the process. Although the items were never recovered, we were on the right track to rebuilding the home and lives of my parents. We are deeply saddened by the fact that this company and its workers would take advantage of the elderly.

The technicians who completed the new flooring in my two bathrooms today did an excellent job, were polite, considerate and skilled. The project manager, Rich, was very responsive, professional, and congenial. I highly recommend Mark Scott Flooring Company, and hope to employ them again on future projects. Gene Perrin
