My husband and I hired Mike Malloy to design an art studio next to our home in Racine, WI. We wanted something that could complement our 1930’s colonial home and still have its own personality.

Mike designed my our unfinished basement for us and transformed it into both a beautiful family space complete with gym, entertainment area and bar on one side and my salon business on the other side. He listened. He took in all of my wants and needs and came back with a set of plans that maximized the space we had to full capacity. I wanted my salon customers to feel like they were walking into an upscale salon, not someone’s basement. The way he used barn doors to conceal furnace rooms, storage, and a home gym, make the space feel so polished. The way he chose to create bump outs to showcase my salon products and separate the living space from the business space are so tastefully done. He took his time with the measurements and pictures, ensuring it only had to be done once. His 3d renderings made and unfinished dark basement come to life with his vision and help us to see what he saw. He listened to our suggestions and made small changes quickly. We had the pleasure to work with Mike
on our project at our lake house.
The original house is over 100 years old.
We renovated the existing house, and added a master bedroom, suite above a new 2 1/2 car garage which is now attached to the house.
( previously the house had a detached garage and storage building).
We also added a huge great room with
a cathedral ceiling , skylights ,and a wall of windows looking towards the lake.
The project is about 80% completed,
and is looking fantastic !

Mike was very patient and listened to everything we wanted..He would also offer his opinion, which was greatly needed.
We’re very very happy we chose Mike to work with !

Mike did an exception job on the plans for our addition. He took time to really hear what we wanted during our consultation and the plans were exactly what we envisioned. He incorporated unique building materials that were a perfect fit for our application and suggested finishes that really enhanced the design. Mike, was nothing short of amazing to work with for the design of our new lake home. We came to him with our list of must haves and wishes, and he created a beautiful and efficient house plan and really maximized the square footage for us. He thought of and recommended so many details that we otherwise wouldn't have thought about. (I'm thrilled about the extra storage spaces!) He was EXTREMELY patient with me as I am very particular. He's such a great guy all around and very trustworthy. We came to him late in the game, and added a Mother in Law suite on to the home as well. He knocked it out of the park there too. Early on, we even looked at a possible lake home renovation, vs. knocking our existing home down for a new build, and again, he had fantastic design ideas and was extremely knowledgeable about the house remodel process.
