Our relationship started with Travis began more than a year ago when we were trying to figure out what type of house we wanted and could afford on our raw land. He patiently answered all of our questions off and on for nearly a year until we finally figured ourselves out. The man is a wealth of knowledge, not only about his trades, but about the local area and the other trades people in the area you need when you're starting a home from the ground up. He knows everyone. In a small town in the middle of the mountains of rural WV, AND when you're not a local, that is worth a lot. Travis cleared and prepped our land for a concrete slab, put that in, installed our new septic system, managed inspections for both, put in a driveway, and worked around the trees we wanted to save. He went above and beyond to get us situated and we are very happy with his work.

We have a very daunting 260 ft long steep (26°) driveway that needed stone laid down. Travis came in and did a beautiful job. It was deeply rutted before, and now it is regraded and packed smooth. He additionally helped us to control future water run off by creating a swale along our back ridge and birming up part of the driveway for double protection.

Travis was great to work with, and we would certainly hire him again in the future for sure!

Kidwell Construction just completed our driveway and it looks great. Travis did an exceptional job grading and laying stone. Not an easy task considering our driveway is over 1070 feet long, full of rocks and steep in some areas. Travis graded the driveway, made it wider and fixed our drainage problems. Our problems were a) a pond that was too shallow in some areas, b) a long, rough cut shale driveway that had several too steep elevations, and c) areas around the main house and cabin that needed backfill. We hired Travis Kidwell to partially drain and dig out the pond, using the fill to smooth out the driveway's extreme elevations, and complete the backfilling of the main house and cabin. The slopes and elevations of the drive were important to prevent runoff erosion. You can see in some of the photos the large amount of fill required to improve the drives. After the grading, seven loads of "crush n' run" were used to finish the surface. The work was done in Jan-Feb of 2018.

Kidwell Const is a small company and Travis does most of the work himself, supplemented with part-time help when needed. The equipment he used was a Trac-hoe, bulldozer, frontloader-backhoe, and large dump truck. Travis is an artist on the equipment, especially the trac-hoe and bulldozer. He is best described as knowledgeable, experienced, honest, meticulous, completely dependable, and has a strong work ethic. I cannot say enough good things about him and his crew. You will not be disappointed if you hire Kidwell Construction for excavation work.
