Due to an unknown water intrusion issue in my home, I contacted UES and was put in contact with Kathy Sabac. She was out to inspect our home back in November of 2023. First, when she approached my house, she pointed up at my gutters and said that they were a problem. She asked me where the downspouts were. I pointed out that the high gutters were installed to flow to the lower gutters where the downspouts were located. She realized that she was clearly mistaken and moved on into the garage where she spent entirely too much time accessing my Air handler. Our issue was efflorescence coming up through tile in certain rooms and clearly had nothing to do with our AC system. It truly felt like she was just trying to drag out the time that she was there to be able to charge more. She completed the testing of moisture levels on the floor and took multiple photos of her readings. She said that she would need to speak to other consultants at her company and that would have an additional cost. I said ok as we were desperate to try to isolate our issue. She called about a week later and was unable to furnish any additional information. All that we really knew is that there was moisture under our flooring. This is something that was obvious and that we knew prior to her coming out. Fast forward to January and we were finally able to find our issue. A faulty shower pan had been discovered and had caused the moisture. My insurance company requested all reports that had been completed. I called Kathy in mid January and asked if you could furnish a report ASAP and she informed me that not only was she behind because of the "December Rains"" but that there would also be a charge to complete a report. This was never disclosed and I found it to be extremely out of line and in fact, quite offensive. This call took place on January 23rd. At the end of it, she agreed reluctantly to produce a report in about "a week or two". I emailed her back on February 16th and asked for an update. She said that I am on her list to complete and that I should have it by the following week. That was nearly 2 months ago. I have completely given up hope for ever receiving a report at this point. I can't speak to any other individuals that work for the company but as far as Ms Sabac, she comes across as arrogant and completely unprofessional. As a local realtor, I would absolutely NEVER recommend her or this company.

Meridian Marina

I highly recommend GFA International for environmental services. To my former customers at Meridian Marina, thank you for your patience while I cleaned up the environmental contamination I inherited when I took over Meridian Marina over a decade ago. That blue tarp was the final step in more than a decade's long effort to remediate the property, and as of July 15, Meridian Marina is contamination free. I assured the new owner I would provide a remediated property to him, and with GFAs assistance, we have done just that.

Over the years, I hired various environmental contractors and spent 100's of thousands of dollars remediating contamination from the 1990s. I hired GFA towards the end of the process, and my only regret is I did not find them sooner. Rob Crowell managed the final testing and worked with DEP. Rob was professional, efficient, maintained excellent communications, and was very fair on the cost. Disappointingly, many contractors from all industries will run up the bill as much as possible. Not Rob and GFA! They charged a fair and reasonable fee for their services and were conscientious of the cost of the work they performed for their client. I rarely write letters of commendation, but in a world where most work harder at taking your money than just doing the work, Rob Crowell and GFA stand out as consummate professionals who will get the job done without bleeding your pocket dry.
