2014- Pregnant with my 2nd child- very stressful pregnancy. Dr. Rajendran was monitoring me very closely. Always explained things to me in detail and presented options.
2016- Pregnant with my 3rd child- due to my previous pregnancy I was high risk. Of course I went right back to Dr. Rajendran.
Perfect pregnancy. I started laboring early a week before my due date- even though she did not deliver my son she came to visit us. Every year I send her pictures of my 2 sons. Thanks Doctor!!!

If you are a black woman. Please do yourself a favor and do not go to this doctor. I went to her trusting her to do a cervical cerclage for me. First she mocked me in the surgery room for being terrified of anesthesia. Then when it was done and time to come out. She RIPPED IT OUT OF ME! It did not feel right. I told her this. She said it was in my head. So Idid not allow her to be my doctor when I gave birth. Instead I went to another hospital altogether for fear that she would be in the room. While delivering the Dr's. At the new hospital told me they still saw a part of it in me. They told me that I had to wait until my 6 week appt with her to get it removed. During that time I healed around the piece. During my 6th week visit. I told her she left a piece in me again. She saw it and instead of apologizing she rips this piece out of me with my partner there. Then as I screamed in agonizing pain she laughed at me and told me I should be able to take it. Because of her I have no been to a gyno in 3 years. She has scared me for life and I should have sued her. She should not be working with anyone.

It's been almost 2 years since I last saw Dr. Rajendran. I most say her treatment towards me at the time was professional and she is good at what she does. But there is why I have her a 1 as rating. She was the one who saw my daughter's down syndrome "characteristics" on the sonogram and after multiple sonograms and blood work it was confirmed that my baby girl was in fact coming with an extra chromosome. I didn't know any better, I was worried, terried and confused. She kept asking if I wanted to terminate my pregnancy as if my child wasn't worth living. So I really thought my world was coming to an end.

Here is what I wish she would have done differently. As a maternal fetal medicine doctor that she is and that I'm sure she sees many cases like my daughter thru out her carreer, I supposed that she is already informed what it really means to have down syndrome. I wish with all my heart she had some encouraging words for me, I wish she had referred me to someone to talk to , I wish she could've had told me that people with downs are fantastic human beings that are able to do anything! The hospitals need more patient guidance in this case.
I believe you were the key to my ignorance at the time, as a professional you should've guide me and that alone would had allowed me to enjoy my pregnancy and looked at what I was going on with another prospective. I wish you wouldn't had kept pushing the termination option even after I told you I didn't want to go that way.
I hope that from now on, you can have a better impact on mother's to be which children are coming with some type of disability. But since I know now what a blessing it really is to have a child with down syndrome, please don't tell them "I'm so sorry, but your child has down syndrome. You can always terminate the pregnancy " ! And if you haven't had the chance to meet someone with downs please allow me to visit you with Aliah so you can see for yourself how beautiful and wonderful she really Is!!!!
