Was going to get new garage doors installed by another company and they quoted me $1,000 just to paint JUST the doors. I decided to get a painter quote on the exterior of the home, since it was needed. David promptly replied and came by same-day to quote. (Your prices may vary but I want to share my experience) He quoted me $4,770 to stain the home a single color or $5,900 for two colors for a multi-level 2000+ sq ft home. This included power wash, sanding, scraping, etc. Our price was also a little more expensive due to our sun room and many windows. But, he went the extra mile, when he came by he commented on our deck and how it needed repair and he could do it. In short, for a little higher price he repaired both our decks. (Small backyard and large front yard) and painted them plus our shed. Altogether it came to about $9,000 but it was expertly handled. Everything was extremely high quality and you can see they made no shortcuts, they went the extra mile to ensure everything was good. I wouldn't have imagined getting a large deck (repaired, expanded + painted), small deck(completely replaced), two color staining of the whole house, shed and more for that price. I would recommend E&W Painting to anybody who lives in the Anchorage/Eagle River area.

I don’t like writing poor reviews but I appreciate reading reviews to help me out, so I thought I’d share my experience.

Pros: where the work was done it looked nice (we had a lot of trim and walls)
Owner was nice,
If you wanted a small area I think if you communicated and wrote what you wanted down specifically with a copy for yourself and one for them it may work better.

Cons: difficult communication regarding what we wanted. I felt when he came he felt there was more than he anticipated (he probably should have taken more time for estimate) two rooms with no trim done, small areas of trim in others missed. Not enough coats hence brush strokes seen. Difficult to get back out in a timely manner and somewhat argumentative on phone of what he did and what we were saying didn’t get done. Due to all this we declined to have them back out. I can’t say how that would have been, so I can’t speak of how things would have went. Maybe they would have been great and completed work that was in estimate without issue. I shy from conflict or potential conflict so it was just better for me this way.

I would not discourage a try with them as long as you are very upfront and monitor carefully.

They were very prompt. Came to site right when they said they would and were very efficient and conscientious. Best painting contractors we have ever worked with! They did a beautiful job on our exterior house which was not an easy job, with all the heighth and angles involved. And they were very reasonable and pleasant.
