We had an amazing experience with Detrie Builders to build our new home. It started with an initial meeting, understanding our vision and budget, and getting all of our questions answered. With Dave D's help, we found an amazing lot that met our criteria and, within a few weeks, had the home design ready! It was a very quick, smooth, and efficient process with Detrie Builders. We started the build while out of state and were kept updated through BuilderTrend App from Dave W throughout the entire process. It was really great when we were on-site to see the work and connect with Dave W on any additional questions/changes. We are very happy with the completed home and Detrie Builders!

I have a beautiful home that caters to my every whim. I built it from 2,000 miles away with occassion visits to WI. It's been a year since I moved in and I have no regrets about hiring Detrie to build my beautiful custom forever home. Their software that allows you to see your home get built was excellent. I looked forward to viewing new pictures of my house online each day. The few minor problems that have come up after I moved in were handled quickly and competently. They helped me with some unusual items like a heat pump, a generator, and the bureaucracy of building a home on the water. I highly recommend their company for your new home.

We purchased a home built by Detrie last fall. It has been an awful experience. After touring the house we declined it as an option because the stain color used was an unpleasant brown (medium orange). After we left the real estate agent CONTACTED US and stated the stain color was used by mistake and that the seller would have it refinished - at their expense. We decided to move forward ONLY after clarifying that the work would not be done by just covering over the original stain in any way. We literally said - “it’s fine if you plan on doing that, but then it just isn’t the house for us”. Throughout the negotiation process we continued to clarify and be upfront about how the work would be done- each time we were re-assured by the selling agent that they knew we didn’t want the work done that way & “it will be perfect”. We moved from out of state & arrived for our final walk through right after everything was freshly redone. In the coming days after closing we started to notice runs & drips everywhere on the trim. The stain also seemed to form a dark film on top & the natural grain of the wood was pretty much gone. To make matters worse - someone from Detrie came in to change some damaged trim boards and they are a totally different stain color. In the coming weeks we found out they just sprayed over everything - no sanding or removing of the old finish. The result is a blotchy uneven top film with numerous runs and drips - basically it looks like smoke damage over the medium orange stain color. To this day I’m so angry that we are here - we could not have been more upfront about what our expectations were. It’s impossible to be an informed buyer if you are lied to to protect someone else’s pocket book. It’s been devastating to our transition here from out of state. We paid full price for a house that we will either have to pay thousands of dollars in legal fees over - or tens of thousands of dollars to fix. **For transparency - when we brought our concerns forward, Detrie came back in with the owner of he company responsible for the work (timber millwork). They told us this was an EXPECTED outcome & offered to remedy only the runs/drips. We have had numerous contractors through since who have told us touching it up at this point is just going to make it look worse & everything has to be replaced.
