I like to support the local guys and review them to help their business grow when I can however, I would recommend looking for an alternative from Cody at Chayah/Quality Engineering. I'm a small time custom home builder and received numerous bids for engineering, decided to go with Cody as he said it would take 3-4 weeks. After reaching out several times at week 2-3 to see how it was going, it became apparent they hadn't even started it. It ended up taking over 7 weeks which put me into the busy season with the county and eventually domino'd into the peak of lumber prices. If the $10k additional bill that indirectly came from Cody's lack of timeliness was the only issue, I wouldn't be upset however, with any questions or concerns with the Engineering, Cody always responds back with his fee schedule even if it is a simple calc or something he didn't account for/messed up on. He has an excuse for everything and refuses to take responsibility for his actions and does not honor his word. I am currently in the middle of the build and he has told me he is done with the project and will no respond to any requests simply because he sized too big of a header where there isn't enough room in the wall to fit it - his response was, "move the window lower or pay for me to run calcs", i responded that it was ridiculous that I have to pay to have you do what you were paid to do in the first place. Apparently that was too harsh.

I don't like leaving bad reviews but working with Cody has ended up costing me months of time and indirectly a good 10-15k extra on my lumber bill. I'd recommend calling up the other engineers in the area and talking with them over the phone to get a feel for their character as the engineer you work with will need to be there for you throughout the project.

I first used Cody from Chayah Consulting Group in a professional capacity to engineer a repair plan for a customer. Cody was knowledgeable, communication was great, permit was granted without issue and the job turned out great.

Cody Geisendorfer, P.E. reviewed drainage reports for me to provide a "second set of eyes." His well-rounded experience in design and permitting make him a person I can count on. His comments were valuable in flagging tacit assumptions that needed to be explicitly documented to make the reports clear to the reader, and in pointing out alternate ways of looking at the situation.
