I'm 1997 Dr Cerabona operated on me at St Vincent's I previously had surgeries with Dr Patrick OLeary at HSS.well Dr Cerabona added 2 small rods attached to Dr Oleary Rods.in 2003 I started losing control of my right leg which later was diagnosed as drop foot.So on Seot 11 2003 Dr Cerabona operated on me again saying it would help the drop foot.prior to Surgery Dr Cerabona never discussed or had me sign papers for him to take out lower rods he and Dr Oleary put in.after I think a long Surgery possible 8 hours i lost alot of blood.in recovery room I was in excruciating pain my wife said I don't even recognize u u eyes are all shut and swollen for being down on my face for so long.i asked her get Dr Cerabona in here asap.he came in which was i found out the beginning of my downfall.without my permission he opened my whole back to thoracic 7.grant uni only had r I was on lower lumbar L5 S1.well he installed 2 approx 2- 20" rods and fused my spine from thoracic 7 all the way to bottom. I was furious but major pain.that not all on MLK day in 2004 6 month after surgery as I now was raising my son with full custody I heard a pop voice in my back.i immediately put my 4 yr old in my car and went to local Dr Benetar in Bellmore.the office watch my son Dr Benetar took exrays and said Steven I'm so sorry your rods are broken, the ones I gave Dr Cerabona no permission to install. So I had no choice no doc would see me I had at Downtown hospital since St Vincent closed and he redid surgery Feb 2004
It don't end there in 2011 I started to feel something was wrong I didn't go back to Dr Cerabona I went to South Nassau in oceanside and Dr Micheal Shapiro redid surgery. Ironically Dr Shapiro was taught by Dr Cerabona and he said he never say such a bad surgery the Rods which Dr Shapiro gave me were broken again and in top Dr Shapiro said he never capped the approx 28 screws but to have 2-20" rods break twice was amazing. I was in too much pain too sue this cocky inconsiderate Dr Cerabona..Dr Shapiro did a good job but I'm going to be 68 years old and if Dr Cerabona never put 2-20" rods up to Thoracic 7 I wouldn't be like this.and to break 2x and his own student Dr Shapiro said what a terrible job he did.he destroyed my life.ive been disabled since 2003 in nys after 65 they converted to social security. I hope I can help one person from looking into Dr Cerabona b4 they use him.everything I've said is well documented. If I cannot pursue this in court due to statute of limitations I will use my rights of free speech.Beware
