I would rate them a ZERO if I could! I recently bought at the Desert Preserve at Desert Oasis in Surprise. This has been the worst home buying experience and I would strongly caution anyone thinking of buying a Richmond American Home NOT to. Let me first start by saying Anne, the sales agent was amazing throughout the process. The construction crew was the worst part of the whole experience.Connor and Rex are completely incompetent and unprofessional.I understand there are currently supply chain issues but the area of concerns are more about the extremely poor workmanship, and the excuses the superintendents made throughout the process as well their unwillingness to make it right. They continued to say “this is the quality of the industry right now. When we did our final walk through a week ago we “blue taped” all the areas that needed addressed. The house was completely unfinished. The glass for the walk in shower was laying against the wall. There was no medicine cabinets installed (supply chain issues which is understandable). There was no block wall or side gate installed, outside stucco work, more areas of concern for the trim and paint that I can count, there was paint splatters on the tile throughout the house, and tile and grout issues which we were told all would be rectified by our close date. On our close date we had the “pleasure” of dealing with both Connor and Rex. Connor immediately started making excuses as to why the work was not done and the blue tape was removed without the repairs being done. We were told the “cleaners” removed the blue tape. Keeping in mind the house was NOT clean. Some of the areas of the other blue tape that was removed we were told were within the tolerances of the trade and it would not be fixed. Needless to say, Connor reluctantly handed us a roll of blue tape and walked out after making rude condescending comments to never return. When a phone call was made to Rex, the superintendent, to offer a very fair resolution, he was extremely rude and confrontational and upset that we had even reached out to him. He would not even allow us to speak to ask any questions. We also spoke to Eric Korsten the Executive VP of Operations and he offered no resolution and said my concerns were mostly cosmetic. Which is an obvious concern when purchasing a new home. After all said and done, Richmond American is paying to extend the rate lock another week as it expires in a couple of days so they can finish the work they were supposed to have done by the close date. I strongly advise against buying a Richmond American Home. Especially if you have have to deal with the building crew that we experienced.
