Despite being over 700 miles away during the build, we entrusted Dave with our dream home, and he treated it as if it were his own. We worked with Dave Lunde and Valley Custom Homes in 2017-2018 to build a cabin north of St. Croix Falls. It went about as smoothly as it could have. A few years before working with Dave, we worked with another company to add on to our house in the Twin Cities. The experience did not go well - the company was dishonest - so this made us leery of working with any other contractor. When we met with Dave, we asked if he had past clients that we could talk to for reference. He very willingly shared some names and numbers with us. Those customers had great things to say about him, so we decided to work with him. One of the best parts about Dave is that he is so honest. We felt like he was straightforward during the bidding and planning, and so transparent about the budget throughout the whole process. We truly loved working with Dave and his wonderful team!

Best word to sum up how it was working with Dave, AMAZING!! From the very start, Dave was very professional, easy to work with, and delivered a best-in-class build. We had a very unique build that was definitely different than what Dave and is crew would typically construct. But they absolutely nailed it. Everything from the layout, features, finishings, etc... Dave and crew were exceptionally knowledgable, talented and helpful. Having heard so many horror stories about working with builders, not only was the quality exceptional, they couldn't have been more friendly and fair. Additionally, we did a lot of research on other builders when in the planning and budgeting phases. Dave was hands down, the most competitive.

What says it all is the amount of compliments we have received from family and friends now that it is completed. It is truly overwhelming.

We would recommend Dave and his crew 10X over. You will not find better!

In 2010, Dave and Valley Custom Homes built our custom home. Valley Custom Homes built us a beautiful and quality home that still looks great today. This was our first time going through the building process and we had lots of questions and concerns. Dave guided us through the entire process and alleviated all of our concerns and answered every question (and he received numerous questions from us). Dave and Valley Custom Homes did an excellent job of turning our dream into a home that we can be proud of. The quality of work and products used in building our house were outstanding. From my standpoint, what makes Dave and Valley Custom Homes standout is the customer service that has been provided to us after our house was completed. To this day, 7 years later, I still contact Dave regarding questions about the house if they arise. Whether it’s who can I contact to add a sump pump, a new outlet, getting the exact stain for a door after our dog scratched it, to what shingles do we have on the house, Dave is never more than a text message or phone call away. Recently, I sent him a text message and he called me within 5 minutes. Who does that after building our house 7 years earlier? I would highly recommend Dave and Valley Custom Homes to anyone looking to build a house and I will definitely be using Dave and Valley Custom Homes for our next home when we decide to build our retirement home.

This was the first time my husband and I have ever built a home, and this is only our 2nd house, so we had a lot of questions. Dave was so patient with us, and explained things when needed. We were comfortable asking him pros and cons of our options, and knew he was giving his honest answer and recommending what he would do if it were his own home.
Dave kept in contact with all of his subs and had them working through the whole process. When one person was finishing their piece up, the next guy or group was scheduled to start the very next day! If any of them had questions they called my husband without hesitation to verify what we wanted, instead of just assuming. They were all so helpful, knowledgeable and personable too.
We are so lucky to have such a great guy (and team) we could trust and rely on through this whole process. It is our biggest dream come true. Thank you

Good responsiveness, but wasn’t clear out of the gate with shell or turnkey options (nothing in between). Eventually backed out of quoting because they got too busy to take on a garage/loft addition in Comstock WI.
