I met Mike through a professional association where we both serve on the board of directors. I had been thinking of doing some remodeling and had him check out my bathroom and kitchen. He was very responsive to what I was looking for and drew up some great plans for both rooms. I hadn't planned on doing both rooms in the same year but based on his estimates and timelines, I decided to go for it. As of this review, the bathroom is finished and I am super happy with the results. The week timeline was pushed out a bit due to some unforseen issues but they worked to get me a working bathroom as quickly as possible and we had to do some of the finishing work in pieces afterwards. Mike and Alan are great to work with and all of their subcontractors were very professional and did excellent work.

Price was the most reasonable of all the estimates I'd gotten and Mike really understood what I was going for in terms of quality, design and future use and offered practical suggestions and worked with some of the unique issues of an older home. The end result is light years ahead of what it was and not only looks amazing but is so much more functional as well.

The first 4 photos below show what the bathroom was and the rest of the pictures are the end result. Originally there was a tub with a shower curtain and the tub area isn't a standard size. The flooring hadn't been sealed and was peeling up around the tub. The surround was plastic and cracked, and the vanity was outdated and broken.

We switched it out to be a walk in shower with no tub. The shower panel and bumper had to be custom built and tiled since the area wasn't a standard six-foot length. The shower walls and bumper are white subway tiles and the shower pan is penny tiles in a marbilized pattern. The vanity was moved over to make room for a linen cabinet which means the medicine cabinet and vanity light fixture needed to be moved over. The ceiling was dropped 6 inches in order to put in a fan/light, which was vented outside. The shelving over the toilet was replaced with a cabinet for extra storage. Flooring is marbilized vinyl tile which matches the shower pan. Subflooring was repaired around the toilet, shower mixer was installed, shower drywall was replaced with water-resistant panels and a moisture barrier, new floor trim was added and the entire room sanded and repainted. The vanity light switch was moved to accomodate the linen cabinet and a new switch was added to control the fan.

Edited 10/20 - They also did my kitchen! It was a complete gut job just like the bathroom. Everything came out: appliances, floors, walls and ceiling. They also removed the two windows to increase the space for counters and cabinets. The kitchen before had no useable counter space and the only flat working surface was a table. The refrigerator was free standing in a corner with the stove against the back wall. The vinyl tile was so old I couldn't even clean it anymore since it made the adhesive loosen and the tiles pop up. In the end, the kitchen turned out great with grey cabinets, concrete counters and the laminate flooring from the rest of the house carried through. Refrigerator is now tucked into an alcove and the stove is along the wall surrounded by counters and cabinets. A dishwasher was put in along with garbage disposal and LED can lights in the ceiling. It's now a useable space with plenty of storage, workspace and light.

Since the windows from the kitchen were in good shape, I added an extra project to the plan and installed the windows in the front of the house for my home office/2nd bedroom. Now the upper and lower floors have symmetry and I get a ton of light and a view in my office.

3rd Coast is my go to company for anything I need done on my commercial and residential properties. Mike and Alan are consummate professionals with the highest integrity and commitment I have seen in this industry.
I am in the trades and know the difference between craftsmanship and marginal quality. 3rd Coast produces top-notch, quality work and maintains excellent communications throughout the process. I know that when I have them perform services for me, I will not be disappointed. Give them a try on your next project.

This company cuts every corner possible during renovations. Windows aren't properly insulated, if you have an attic they definitely don't insulate the crawl space, they use cheap materials, and are non-responsive. Don't even get me started on their shoddy electrical and plumbing work.

If you buy a house they have renovated, just know you'll be putting in an additional $10 - $40,000 to fix all of their mistakes and shortcuts.

Highly recommend for anyone listing their home. Very communicative and walked us through every step of the process for both buying and selling a home. We have had a great experience and would use Third Coast Real Estate again.

I didn't use them, but had to repair some electrical work they did. Long story short, it wasn't up to code, wires were put in wrong, you get the gist.. and that was just the three outlets we checked. Shortcuts to save money just cheat people in the long run.
