The Centerville Homes after construction service is excellent. An issue relating to the routing of the pipe for radon mitigation system was found and once Centerville Homes was notified they quickly responded and had the piping re-routed.
My wife and I are very glad to have chosen Centerville Homes when we had our home built and recommend them highly.

FIND A BUILDER THAT HAS THE INTEGRITY TO KEEP THEIR WORD FROM THE START

While I see this builder has had good reviews, all I can share is our personal negative experience in the hopes it helps others on how things can transpire if you don’t stay on top of the entire building process right from the start.

We toured Centerville homes early in September, and found a home we liked. We then met with Jeff Sr on September 16th with a complete punch list of modifications and options we wanted make. Jeff Sr, at the end of the meeting, told us it would take a week before he got back to us for pricing.

The following week on Wednesday the 20th I called to find out when we would be meeting that week to go over pricing. During that call Jeff Sr said he would not be able to get the pricing done that week and would have the price the next week now. I told him that was fine.

That, “next week” passed without any contact about meeting again. So on Friday the 29th, after not hearing back, I again sent an email asking when we could meet. In the email I specifically mentioned that I was looking for pricing.This time October 4th was suggested.

October 4th did not work for us and we were going to be out of town for the rest of the week. So we finally settled on the October 12th.

45 minutes before the scheduled meeting on the 12th a floor plan was emailed to me with this message from Jeff Jr. about pricing: “He (Jeff Sr.) is waiting on pricing from the factory on this plan to get updated price for the project.”

Nearly a month (26 days) after first meeting with Jeff Sr and being told he would have pricing for us in one week, but they still had nothing for us. Since the September 18th meeting I mentioned in both phone calls and emails we were looking for the pricing that Jeff Sr told us we would be getting. Why in the 11th hour was I told they did not have it yet even tho nearly a month had passed?

If a builder can’t keep their word, communicate delays and issues that impact a delivery date on something as simple as getting pricing info to a customer, what does that say about how the build process will go with that builder? You need to trust your builder.

After confronting Jeff Sr on how he handled a simple meeting and the lack of appropriate communication and follow thru he could not take ownership that he did anything wrong here… he walked away from this build.

IN RESPONSE TO CENTERVILLE HOME’s REPLY. You are darn right I was angry. Very angry. I came to realize you jerked me around for about a month. Never once did you mention all the complexity of getting pricing until this reply. I go back to what you initially told to me. Jeff Sr. set the expectations that it would be a week for pricing. Never once did you have the professional courtesy to call me and tell me there were delays. I totally understand things “arise that are out of your control” but a TRUE professional would reach back and communicate to his customer. They would not wait and drop bad news on them minutes before a scheduled meeting. I made it clear multiple times during the month that I wanted talk numbers at our meeting. Basically, you set the expectation and didn’t communicate anything arose delaying delivery.

Sell a decent home build but the process is a pain in the arse....

Be very careful with your details and make sure your plans are crystal clear you might end up with a different color then you picked. Make sure they come back and finish the job.

Nice house but Jeff promised to come back and fix cracks in dry wall but it's been three years and we call each year and are told they will come and fix them but never do.
