I highly recommend Rick and his crew! We hired them to install a new gravel driveway. This included clearing the land, cutting down large trees, grading the driveway, and laying the gravel. We received multiple estimates/project proposals and from the beginning Rick was the most informative about why he would grade a certain way and why he recommends specific types of gravel. He was neither the cheapest or most expensive estimate we received but he by far had the best proposal of the scope of work and we are extremely happy with the results!

Rick and his crew did a fantastic job on digging out and putting in new french drains to eliminate water in my basement. They were professional and polite. He explained all the steps that were going to take place. They also built a retaining wall for my driveway and tore out old shrubs and put all the new stone in place. Excellent work!!!

Should not hire for French drain installations.

We signed a contract in the winter and he would not tell me when he would be out to do it until the day before, but he told me he may be here "tomorrow or the next day." I understand not being able to plan very well but he could have given me an approximation on the month at least. I had to reach back out to make sure he was even still coming.

There are no issues with the excavation, it was done to standard. He found the gas line and I forgot to tell him about the electrical line that he fixed after he dug through and cut it. I'm not upset about that because that was my fault. He tied the down spouts into the drain as well.

Now comes to the French drain. It flat out does not work. Since it was not working I removed the eight inches of substrate he put back on top of it. He did not use non-woven geotextile, he put in what is essentially a woven driveway fabric. Whenever the smallest amount of any substrate is on the fabric be it clay, top soil, or sand the water pools up and doesn't go anywhere. It drains fine only when it's exposed and clean.

Not only did he use the wrong fabric, he did not burrito wrap the gravel and pipe. He dug the trench, put the perforated pipe and gravel in and then just laid the fabric over the top and covered it up. Do five minutes of research and you can easily find that it is of utmost importance to wrap the pipe and gravel inside the appropriate fabric.

The picture shows about half an inch of sand I purchased to put on to of the fabric to help the water drain faster. Note the water pooling up.

Now I either have to fix it myself or pay for someone else to come out here and fix it.

Save yourself time and money and go with someone else who will do the job right the first time.

After having my finished basement flood for the third time Fiola Excavation was called in for the fix. They saw cut 100+ feet of concrete to install a 6” under slab French drain. They were professional and completed the job quickly with minimal cleanup. Highly recommend Rick and his crew for any job you need done!
