Very frustrating to work with this company.

We’re pretty thorough when it come to checking companies out. Natural Environments came highly recommended by local individuals who I trust. And the Google reviews looked great.

We asked for a quote, in March, to replace our generator with an Generac and update the electrical work on our solar array. From the time of the initial contact until when the quote was provided (months later) we lost the opportunity to get in on Generac’s offer of a 10 year warranty.

The quote itself was extremely unusual with only a few lines provided. When we asked for a more comprehensive quote, in order to figure out if there was anything we could do ourselves, we were told that could only be provided after the job was done. We received a quote from another company which was 3 pages of line items.

Natural Environments did come back with an unsolicited updated quote which dropped the price by $3k.

Fast forward, we signed the contract in June and provided a deposit. The contract stated that the work would be done within 2 weeks. Great! The hot weather is coming and we run a bed and breakfast so if we lose power we’ll have a working generator to keep our guests comfortable with air conditioning, lights, etc.

It’s now July and the installation date got moved to tomorrow. Then today we just learned that the date has been moved again. Our project has now been bumped until the end of this month. 🤬

During this whole process there were a lot of messages left at the office and only a few returned calls. We’re very frustrated and at this point have left messages for the owner to contact us about the delay. There’s approximately 45 minutes left before they close for the day. I’m not confident that we’ll hear back today or even this week.

In retrospect there were several signs we ignored that this may not end well. I really hope they prove me wrong and if they do, I’ll be sure to update this review accordingly.

8/25/23 Update — moved rating from 1 star to 3 stars: The generator was installed before the hot weather hit and last week when we lost power it worked perfectly! For whatever reason the installer didn’t have the switches needed to tie the generator into the solar array system and said they would be back to finish the job. It’s been several weeks since then but I’m not going to get excited about that because for me the important piece is having a working generator when we need it!

We have a 12 sided roof with a 12 sided cupola plus attached garage, not an easy roof. We had Natural Environments replace the roof (complete tear off etc.) and repair the fascia. They were amazing, started & finished when they said they would, handled all aspects of the construction and were very personable to deal with. This is the first time I have ever had a building inspector praise a contractor. We now have a beautiful new roof.

This company is awesome. We had them install a whole house Generac generator. Now we can sit back and not worry about PSPS by PG&E this summer.
