We recently had an extensive remodel performed by J.R.P. Design and Remodel in Westlake Village, CA. Overall they did a great job. The crews they recommended and hired--from the movers, to the electricians, to the craftsman who replaced our old, dated staircase with a custom wood and wrought iron one--were all total pros. The floors and backlit quartzite peninsula are just beautiful.

My husband and I couldn’t have been happier with the Superintendent of our project, Otniel. He was here most weekdays for the six months the project took, and was always cheerful, professional, punctual, and well organized. Otniel, with the Project Manager, Grant, and the Production Coordinator, Sammy, did a great job of coordinating many different crews who worked on several complicated tasks simultaneously. We ripped the kitchen down to the studs, and by measuring with lasers, the new countertops, appliances, and cabinets fit perfectly.

There were a few set-backs along the way, thus the four stars rather than five, but JRP made them all right in the end. If something was built wrong, they ripped it out and replaced it at their expense. These tweaks did add a month to the total remodel, but it was worth it, and we would recommend them and will definitely use them again.

For our project, remodeling our two bathrooms we had some ideas but really benefited from JRP’s experience and expertise. The JRP process supports the full end to end construction process. We benefited from their process with a design that maximized our space, clear communication on the scheduling of the trades and a daily update on the progress of the remodel.

Justin, Lori and their team took our ideas and needs and came back with options for us to consider, that we hadn’t contemplated. The result was a collaboration of how to use the space and what it will look like. Danni, the designer we worked with, looked at our ideabook and brought in options for faucets, drawer pulls, lighting fixtures, wall and flooring materials. It was hard to decide, because it was all our style!

Moving out of our house, with our two cats was necessary. We wanted to minimize our time out of the house, which JRP was able to do for us. Grant, our project manager, was on site and available when we had questions. Sammy was terrific, confirming materials arrived on time and keeping our schedule updated. When the tilers were delayed at another job, they came on Saturday to make up the day and keep us on track. Pictures of our project were also updated daily in Builder Trend. This eliminated stress and gave us peace of mind knowing how our remodel was progressing.

JRP had us back in our home, with two fabulous bathrooms, a week ahead of schedule. We had some minor issues, which were all resolved quickly. Justin and Lori have a terrific team who are all knowledgeable, professional and all contributed to a terrific experience for us.

Wonderful experience from start to finish with the JRP team. We were looking to renovate one floor of our house including new flooring, kitchen and two bathrooms, and they worked seamlessly with us on all issues small and large. The design phase with Dani was great, helping bring our vision to life, and the renovation work with Grant, Otneil and team was flawless. They are respectful of desired budget goals and navigated unexpected obstacles (e.g. discovered prior owner had removed a load bearing wall!) in a timely and professional manner. This is the third home we have renovated and the experience with JRP was the best yet - they show up when they are supposed to, all work done is top quality, and they are a pleasure to work with. Would absolutely use again and recommend to anyone.

We had a major water leak in our upstairs bathroom that damaged the custom cabinetry in our kitchen below. JRP handled the entire restoration process, from removing the damaged cabinets to perfectly matching the new finish to our existing extensive woodwork throughout the kitchen and great room (including a large island and entertainment center!). They were able to match the original aesthetic perfectly, and they were incredibly communicative and organized throughout the project. We've worked with other contractors in the past, but JRP is truly in a different league. Highly recommend!

After living in my lakeside home for three years, I finally decided to explore my options for remodeling my home.

I was referred to JRP Design & Remodel by my painter and decided to stop in and check them out one day. As soon as I walked into their showroom and saw their beautiful modern kitchen, I knew I could trust them to bring my vision to life.

Their customer service is amazing! Justin and Corey are very knowledgeable, as well as experienced. They gave me plenty of one on one time and understood my desires for wanting an open space with tons of natural light, a larger kitchen, and a more contemporary look.

I can’t say enough about my rapport with the JRP Team. They took care of everything from planning, implementation, and coordination of small details to major decisions. My project manager, Grant, is THE BEST. He communicated with me daily, quickly solved any issues that came up, and always kept me in the loop.

Everything that JRP promised, they fulfilled. All in all, I’m another happy JRP customer.

We hired JRP after researching numerous companies online. We loved the concept of a design build company, where everything is controlled by one team. The design process started in March of 2018. Justin’s design concept was exactly what we were looking for and we could not wait to get started. Our main concern was getting a functional kitchen that looked beautiful. After getting our design finalized and permits secured we began construction in August 2018. Our project consisted of a complete kitchen remodel with addition and composite cantilever deck. Grant, our project manager, was available at anytime to talk about concerns or issues we had with the project. He was the perfect fit for us. Since we would be living in our house during construction, JRP set up a temporary wall blocking us and our two young children from the dust. It worked out very well. Trust me, as with any construction project, you will run into unforeseen issues. The main difference with JRP and with other companies is that JRP will handle those issues in whatever way the customer wants them handled. There were frustrating things that happened that were out of anyone’s control, causing our project to be delayed. However, with our project completed, we don’t really care about the delays because everything turned out BEAUTIFULLY. Our project was completed in January 2019 and after living in it for a few months we can honestly say we are so happy we hired JRP. Our kitchen and outdoor space is a dream and we could not be happier with how everything turned out.

After our kitchen was destroyed by a leak upstairs and the resulting water intrusion into the kitchen walls and ceiling, we decided to make the proverbial lemonade out of this particular batch of lemons and create a new kitchen to my wife's (aka Senior Management's) exact specifications. Based on a previous bad remodeling experience of my own and several among our friends, we knew we didn't want to go the "cheap" route. "Cheap" can turn out to be very expensive in time, contractor mistakes, and even contractor abandonment of the project that requires legal action to recover damages and funds. Not to mention stress. It's the Wild West out there.

A friend had her kitchen recently remodeled by JRP. Her recommendation was glowing and the design and workmanship were stunning. Thus we decided to work with JRP for both design and construction of the new kitchen.

The design process was brief, focused and efficient. Danni's Design Team first came to our home to assess and measure the space and discuss in broad brush what we wanted and where to put it. Then a few days later we went to their office to see an initial CAD mockup, discuss suggested changes and select materials for cabinets and hardware. They listened extremely well and made their own experience-based suggestions that were very helpful, as in "Oh yeah, we didn't think about that ourselves!" The design was finalized in short order, the only change we made later was the cabinet paint color.

JRP drafted a contract that included a completion date, total costs and a schedule of payments based on tasks initiated and completed. They handled everything including interaction with our HOA, informing the neighbors, and procuring both permits and inspections. We elected to remain in the house during construction although we scheduled several long-ish vacation trips. Even the best construction can be noisy and dusty--if you have little kids, it's probably best to move out--but JRP went out of their way to isolate the kitchen area and keep those disruptions to a minimum. The workers were without fail cheerful, accommodating and skilled at their jobs. Project Manager Sammy and on-site managers Grant and Fidel were all very accessible and attentive, and kept us informed of progress and any likely delays. JRP also employs an online tool (Buildertrend) that facilitates rapid communication between clients and staff as issues come up, and shows the entire project plan and schedule down to daily resolution. By the way, they finished a week early--practically unheard of in this business! Our "shakedown cruise" as expected revealed a couple of minor issues that were remedied in less than 24 hr by the JRP team.

We (and most importantly Senior Management) are beyond delighted with the final product, both aesthetically and functionally. To me, the gleam in her eyes when she sees, uses or talks about the new kitchen is, well, priceless. Moreover the process and customer-relationship focus of JRP far exceeded my expectations. If you choose JRP for your project you won't be disappointed.

We are very pleased with our Downstairs/Kitchen remodel project done by JRP. The in-house design team used high tech tools and innovative ideas to take our project conception and generate a complete design that exceeded our expectations. We appreciated JRP’s turnkey approach of take a job from design to completion. Their focus was on doing the job right and to our complete satisfaction. Customer communication was enhanced by having an assigned project manager on site daily.
Jeff Schmucker, our Project Manager, did an excellent job of managing all aspects of our construction project in addition to keeping us informed of on-going and up-coming events. He spoke with us daily outlining the current project status plus making sure the project implementation was meeting our expectations. One of Jeff’s primary objectives was to ensure we were satisfied with the project as it progressed. He successfully resolved all issues to our satisfaction. Jeff had an excellent relationship with the Thousand Oaks City Building office and the associated building inspectors. His good working knowledge of city codes resulting uneventful compliance with all aspects of the building approval process. Jeff also had a great working relationship with the various trade contractors utilized in our project. He kept the project moving forward by managing the tasking of the trades efficiently. The excellent success of our project was due largely to Jeff’s proficient skills managing construction projects.
