For reference, my visit to Maria's was on a rainy day in mid-February 2025. This is the second time that I have had the pleasure to shop here. I was greeted promptly by a friendly employee which I found refreshing and very uncommon. The quality of plants here are generally good, and prices are comparable to big-box stores for most plants.
There was a decent selection of seasonal plants: ostrospermum, anemone, ranunculous, pansies, cold weather edibles. There is also a large variety of succulents and cacti. Of note, several very large specimen agave, tree aloes and cacti. In more manageable sizes 1 & 5 gallons some standouts were a decent selection of Mangave, echeveria, agave and aloe. Because of the rain, I didn't venture further than the last row of the large-sized succulents.
If you are in or near Torrance, Maria's is a good place to pop in for great customer service and plants.
My haul: Mangave 'Praying Hands', 2 x Ostrospermum, Bacopa ~$28.

Wonderful prices, staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. Plants are beautifully arranged and easy to pick. Very open and spacious. Large variety of flowers, succulents, trees, bushes, gravel, soil and a ton I'm sure I'm missing! Can't wait to go back again, spent over an hour on my first trip!

A Family owned business that been for years in the south bay. The best in quality plants., pots , sod, wood chips, medium, fertilizer, irrigation, equipment, they have it all for home garden or business @ a fair price. Very professional friendly staff always helpful with questions. open seven days a week. gardening & landscaping service's available, 🌴🌱🌹🍃

I've been a long time customer of
M & B nursery. Friendly service and ample variety of plants. The nursery has improved its physical looks by creating easy to walk gravel pathways, eye level colorful plants, and good social distance service too. Prices are average ( not too high, not that low either) compared to local nursery chains.

Racist and Completely Unprofessional Won't Accept Any Calls Regarding Thier Behavior

We own a nearby residential complex and just finished with the remodel. Our landscape needs updating so we googled the nearest nursery and found Maria Garden Center. The selection wasn't that great and some of their plants are much pricier than her competitors. Maria's employee said landscaping contractors gets a 20%. We asked him if he can look up our contractors information since he has shopped at Maria Garden Center before. We were told our landscaper has to physically be at the store. So we called our landscaper and he said he can be there later in the day to get the order. Maria then came to inform us even if he showed up later she won't honor the discount since she has to restock the item plus she will charge us 20% restocking fee. We told Maria that doesn't make sense because that defeats the purpose of us picking out our own plants. Other nurseries we have purchased at allowed us to pick our own plants and they put it aside for us until our contractor can come by later to pick up. Maria got mad and said she is the owner and she is the one who decides who gets the discounts or not. She is extremely rude and disrespectful to us. We decided to take our business elsewhere. We went to Ricardo's nursery instead. Better service, better selection and cheaper prices. With so many great nurseries out there, why buy from someone who treats their customers that way? We won't be recommending this garden center to anyone in the future.
