My wife and I recently remodeled our kitchen and flooring throughout our home, and we chose MSK to handle the job. This was actually our third time using MSK for our remodeling needs as we had used them twice to remodel our bathrooms previously. We have enjoyed using their services each and every time because they get it! They get design, they get construction, and they REALLY get good customer service at a very high level! When I see this, it tells me that the company is a very well- organization because you see it and feel it consistently everyday by everyone in the company. So, thank you Kat and Scott for owning and managing such a wonderful company.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention some all-stars that you have on your team. Notably, Linda Bryant our designer extraordinaire who did the designing phase of all three of our jobs. Chris Nelson our project manager who guided the way and removed many obstacles for us including the removal of asbestos from our home. Chuck Gilbert our lead construction person who showed a lot of versatility in accomplishing everything needed to pull off our job. Then last but not least, there was Sean the painter who did a spectacular job painting all the rooms expertly.
My wife and high had high expectations for MSK at the start of the process and they surpassed those expectations once again!

We recently completed a whole-house remodel with MSK Design Build, and I’m happy to say our experience was absolutely fantastic. Their work was of the highest standard.

From our very first meeting with Kat and Scott, we knew MSK Design Build was the right fit for our project. They were professional, transparent, and easy to work with, giving us complete confidence that they would deliver a result we would love—and they did!

When we met Kelly, our lead designer, we felt an instant connection. She immediately understood our vision and brought it to life with creativity and expertise. Kelly was communicative, easy to work with, and always brimming with fresh, innovative ideas. Not only did she make the design process exciting, but she also took a practical approach, ensuring that every decision aligned with our lifestyle. We were also fortunate to have Luz Mendoza join the design team, and at that moment, we knew we had hit the jackpot! Kelly and Luz worked seamlessly together, making the entire design phase smooth and enjoyable. With numerous meetings, discussions, and decisions to make, they guided us effortlessly through the process.

Selecting materials—tiles, flooring, lighting, paint colors, and more—could have been overwhelming, but Kelly and Luz made it easy. We trusted their taste and expertise, and they worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure every order was accurate. Their dedication and research brought some truly outstanding features to our home.

Once the design phase was complete, the construction team, led by Curt (our project manager) and Joe Durron (our site lead), took over. They were incredible—professional, communicative, and detail-oriented. Curt kept us informed every step of the way, addressing any issues promptly.

Joe, as our site lead, was an absolute rock throughout the construction process. He was always on top of every detail, ensuring that everything was executed flawlessly. His knowledge, problem-solving skills, and hands-on approach made a huge difference. No matter what challenges arose, Joe was always calm, efficient, and dedicated to making sure the work was done to the highest standard. He treated our home with the utmost care and always made sure the site was clean, organized, and secure at the end of each workday. His expertise and commitment gave us total peace of mind.

The entire MSK construction team maintained a clean and secure worksite, and we felt completely at ease with everyone coming in and out of our home. The subcontractors MSK Design Build works with are top-notch, which is crucial when undertaking a remodel that involves structural changes, electrical work, plumbing, and more.

Throughout the construction phase, we remained in constant communication with Kat, Scott, Kelly, and Luz. They stayed involved, ensuring everything progressed smoothly and providing input when needed. Scott, with his engineering background, was especially helpful in refining the exterior details of the house.

I cannot say enough good things about this award-winning company. They turned our vision into reality, creating a home that is not only modern and luxurious but also functional and cozy.

This is our second project with MSK. We had previously done a kitchen remodel and this time it was a primary bath and bedroom. Once again the service, craftmanship, attention to detail, and professionalism was amazing. Being able to do everything from the design to the construction with one company is so helpful. Linda was our designer for both projects. She listens, provides all types of options and makes the shopping process so easy. During the construction phase they do everything to make the disruption minimal. The carpenters are true craftsmen and making sure everything is done correctly is always a priority. Both projects were done on time and done to budget. We could not be happier with our MSK home!

Luz crafted a lovely design and worked with suppliers so that we could effortlessly select hardware, tile, and fixtures that were all beautiful and within our budget. MSK did a bathroom addition in our house in Walnut Creek, and we could not be happier with their work! They are organized and process-oriented all the way through. This was our first major remodel, and we were apprehensive having heard nightmarish stories about remodeling. Happy to say that our experience turned out to be the opposite.

The team was always receptive to any questions, feedback or requests we had. They are genuinely nice people, and made sure almost anything we wanted to add was taken care of. We did hit a snag with the medicine cabinet dimensions being incorrect, which caused a slight delay, but we were kept informed all along.

Since this was a bathroom addition instead of a remodel, it entailed a few extra steps such as, adding a sewer line, getting permits etc. We would not have known where to start, if we had to co-ordinate all of that ourselves. Thanks to Kat, Scott, Suzy, Chris, Al and team for taking care of everything. We love our new primary suite!

This was our first experience doing an actual remodel—we’ve spent years doing DIY projects and will continue to do so, but we knew we needed experts to take care of our kitchen remodel. We really can’t believe how lucky we got!

Why you should go with MSK Design Build:

1. They do EVERYTHING.

2. Design – The best ever. Our designer, Linda Bryant, listened to what we were looking for – to turn our 1950s galley kitchen into a functional, clean space. She created a wonderful and unexpectedly spacious design without changing the footprint of the kitchen. She gave us homework – how do we use our current space, what’s working, what’s not working—and gave us honest advise on which bell or whistle was something we should spend our money on. We just loved her!

3. Permits – I don’t know what that would have entailed, but I know it saved me time and aggravation. Our neighbors up the street had to fit this into their busy schedule, and they are on month 5 still trying to get their new kitchen done.

4. Vetted reliable contractors – no getting bids and hoping the one we chose showed up to work and completed their jobs--MSK brings long-held reliable relationships with them. MSK wouldn’t work with them if they hadn’t proven themselves. They showed up, did great work, were quiet and respectful. They left our place each afternoon clean with all tools put away. Al Alas, our onsite project manager, made sure of that… We credit Al for getting the work done, and done well.

5. Finished a week early!! - Our flooring folks had a cancellation the week before they were to start doing not just the kitchen, but the whole house! They were able to start a week early at the opposite end of the house while the kitchen cabinets were still getting put in and were done before they initially were supposed to start.

It feels like a brand new house, not just a new kitchen. Every time we look at our new kitchen, it makes me smile and feel just happy to be here. Thank you Kat, Scott and team for taking care of it all!

I would highly recommend MSK Design Build!!!

We had been contemplating a kitchen remodel for years and finally went through with it. We had a very distinct, modern look we were trying to achieve and felt MSK was the team that would be able to do it for us.

We had quite a few friends go through a remodel in the past few years and heard all the crazy stories of trying to get multiple contractors, designers, architects, etc. to get on the same page. The beauty of MSK is that they're a design-build firm and take responsibility for everything from design to execution. They even follow up every few months after completion to make sure we're pleased with the outcome.

We chose MSK because we felt they were honest, forthcoming people. And we were right! They kept us up to speed on anything that varied from the detailed plan they had set forth from the beginning. They use a platform called Co-Construct that keeps everyone up to date on what's happening and allows for extremely easy communication between client and builder. That was extremely important to us since our hours aren't always conducive to playing phone tag throughout the day.

The team at MSK was amazing! Our designer, Suzie, helped us go from everything we had seen in magazines and online to putting together a well thought out design to help match aesthetic to function. The team that came in everyday were fantastic as well. We can't say enough great things about our lead, Joe. He was always very communicative with us about what was done that day, what needed to be done and what the next step was going to be. The team that came in were always very professional, courteous and punctual.

They definitely stand behind their work. We are a few months out from completion and I can still send them a message if something isn't working to spec or if there are adjustments needed. They respond right away and get someone out here as soon as they can to fix it without me having to constantly remind them. Amazing!

We love our new kitchen and family room! I would recommend no one else but MSK if you're planning a project!!

CURRENT UPDATE: We used them again this past year (2022) for a bathroom remodel, stairs and banister/railing project, putting hardwood into our upstairs area as well as transforming a formal living room and guest room into a new En Suite for visiting family members. They were just as good the second time as the first! I still highly recommend them!

I am moving from Maui and purchased a home in Walnut Creek. The home needed major renovations so my son found MSKD online. What a blessing it was to find them. After our initial meeting most of the design and construction took place over zoom. Luz our designer was amazing. She was able to put my thoughts into concrete design. She got every little thing I wanted while staying on budget. The construction Team did the same! Staying on budget and timeline! They were the best in communication which being 3000 miles away was a piece of mind for me. I highly recommend Kat and her MSKD team for your construction needs! I am in my home now and never could be happier!!
