Amazing metal work coming from Herds. They've done custom fabricating for our farm equipment, all the way to ornamental gates for our commercial business. Always have gasses on hand too which is super convenient. Definitely worth patronizing.

My company has been working in the area for the past few months. In that time I've had to send employees out for welding repairs twice. Both shops I sent them to took advantage of the situation by over charging for the work they did. I've been in business for 20 years and I know when I'm being over charged. Herds not only treated us more than fair..they jumped on it as soon as my employee got there. On top of that they let me pay by credit card two days after the work was done. These are great people and they did a great job. 5 stars isn't enough.

Where do I start? I had a small project, make 2 spare tire brackets. I brought my diagram to Herds, had a detailed conversation with the owner as to what I needed and how many I needed. I was quoted a price and I then agreed to the job.
Before I continue with my review, I would ask you to look at the drawing of the project but I can't get it to load. On the drawing, where does it note hole size or placement? It doesn't. I explained that I was not sure of size or placement of the holes as I did not have the lug bolts or the rims. This should not have been of any issue because I had on being the one to drill the holes. THE HOLES ON THE DRAWING WERE FOR REPRESENTATION ONLY.
Ok, back to the review. At the appointed time I came to pick up the brackets. I was shocked when they presented me with just one bracket. But what was more amazing was there were holes drilled all over the bracket. It appeared that the extensive conversation describing what I wanted went in one ear and out the other. No offer to fix the piece, just the offer to drill and set the lug bolts when I got them. As for the other bracket went, they would be happy to build the second bracket, but they would be charging for it. So, the quote of 75.00 for two brackets wasn't true. I paid an additional 15.00 and then was to pay the balance upon receipt of the part.
When I returned, the second part was done and they didn't botch it up by randomly drilling holes on it.
I played an additional 25.00 at this time. Lets be fair, they cut me a break on the price for the second bracket.
I recieved the lug studs and rims and so I planned to drill the holes myself. I then decided that since the holes had to be precisely placed, I'd have the machine shop do the drilling and pressing of the lug studs onto the brackets. I brought the brackets, the lug studs, and the rim to the shop and explained to the guy exactly what I needed done. After several days, I called to see if the brackets were done and was told they were and that it would be an additional 90.00 charge. I was flabbergasted! 8 holes for 90.00. The owner then began whining that he was taking a loss on the project and that his guy had to make a pattern and that he had to spend over an hour doing the work. I voiced my dismay and said I would be down to pick up the parts. The owner offered to cut the price for the work at this time. When I arrived I began looking at the parts. The holes were misplaced and the lug studs were not installed. I was disgusted. The owner again started up with the whining about how hard his guy had to work on the job at which point I cut him off and gave the guy 60.00 and told him to keep the parts as they were unusable to me and that maybe he could sell them as boat anchors. To this I got no response and not even the hint of them wanting or willing to make things right. I turned on my heel and left. So, I paid close to 175.00 for brackets that were useless .
Folks, this was a simple job. This job could have been handled by a 7th grader in a junior high school shop class.
I am sorry I put my trust in Herds Welding and Machine shop, and if you decide to have work done there I am sure you will be sorry too.
