The quote we received from LJM Construction was lower than other competitors. We started construction a few weeks ago and thus far I have been very impressed with the progress and quality of the work.

I hired LJM to remodel my home and add a fabrication shop for my business. It was a fairly complicated project with stringent sequencing requests, but Mark handled it like a champ. We hired LJM Construction (a Pleasanton based remodeling company) in March this year for our home remodeling project. Mark McConville and Nick Bailey-Klein were the ones we talked to and worked with throughout. They took our savings (~$60k) and delivered no work.

During our investigation, we found out that Mark and Nick grossly misrepresented theirs/LJM’s design and construction experience, and plagiarized/doctored an abundance of images to mislead and influence us into hiring them for our project. We contacted the rightful owners and they confirmed our suspicions.

Similar happened to others years back when the business was under the name "Red Road Construction". Some of them also visited Black Ridge Vineyards for an onsite tour like we did. Black Ridge Vineyards is now permanently closed.

Mark and Nick claimed that LJM Construction has all the required skills and expertise to handle our project and that all employees of LJM Construction are screened with background checks. Neither are true. We found out that some of the persons listed in our contract are not real/not employees of LJM Construction.

We never signed the contract due to typos and Nick went on a 2 week vacation without heads up, the week we hired them. Despite our concerns and push back, Mark and Nick were very eager to start the demolition process without any designs, drawings, plans or permits. We asked for payment schedules multiple times but instead of providing it, they compelled us to pay a total of ~$60k within 2 weeks. To date, no work was done and no ground broken for our project.

When confronted, Mark denied all allegations and refused to refund us our money without providing any proof to support his claim. We tried to reach out to them numerous times, given them many chances to come forward but all of our efforts were willfully ignored. Instead, we received multiple intimidating letters from their attorney pressuring us to drop our complaint with the CSLB, and to provide them a full Civil Code §1542 waiver.

We contracted with Mark and LJM to do a joint sidewalk and driveway replacement for two neighboring houses. He was patient and diligent in gathering our requirements, and showed the same responsiveness and attention to detail when the project got underway. His team was professional, courteous and did excellent work. We are very happy with the results, timeline and budget. Highly recommend Mark and his team.

LJM Construction just completed a total remodel of our master bedroom/master bath and we couldn't be more pleased with the result.

We were given a quote for the work and decided to purchase all of the materials, staying within the budget that we were given. Mark and his crew took it from there and were able to give us a beautiful, new master bedroom and bathroom.

The demolition work was as quick and clean as possible. The work entailed removing the existing floor tile and baseboards, the shower surround and shower floor and the existing whirlpool bathtub as well as the vanity countertop and mirror. Our furniture was covered with plastic, plastic covered the doorways and paper covered all walkways.

We had the shower lengthened and retiled, and a custom made glass shower surround installed. They also installed a freestanding tub and tub filler along with a new toilet. We also had new floor tile and countertops installed, and the bathroom walls and all doors, including the cabinet doors painted. They installed and painted new baseboards and built a frame for my vanity mirror. They were meticulous about making sure that everything was centered and level, including my new towel rings, towel rods and cabinet and door hardware.

During the construction process, we also discussed rewiring the lighting and installing dimmer switches and a pocket door, both of which they did for us. All of my suggestions and requests during the remodel were met with enthusiasm and a positive attitude!

I truly couldn't have asked for a better team from the owner to the crew. Everyone arrived with a positive attitude and wore a mask daily. A huge deal to us during the pandemic.

This was our first remodel project and we would definitely consider LJM Construction if we decide on more projects. Mark was with us every step of the way, from a detailed quote to frequent visits and texts to check on the work, to a call yesterday to make sure we were happy with every detail. We were able to stay on budget and got a beautiful new master sanctuary - working with a team that we felt was working in our best interest every day.
