I called AEL to have them come do a geological inspection for a house I am purchasing, I spoke with Kerry who assured me he would "look at the heart lungs & liver" of the property and do a thorough inspection, he quoted me $600 for a full written report, so I booked him. I called the day before the inspection just to confirm and also asked if he would be doing and digging or taking soil samples he said no, that he would only be doing a observational inspection. I said fine.. no problem see you tomorrow at 4pm. (Side note we had another regular home inspection set for the same day but at 1pm) Home inspector by the name of Richard Cole of Cole's Inspections arrived at 1pm did his rounds and was done by 4pm, he did a great job. At around 4:30 I call Kerry of AEL to see where he was at, he told me that he had stopped by the property earlier, looked around and figured he would need to do some boring / digging and take soil samples and that it would cost me $4,000-$5,000... I call bull plop! 1st of all, we were at the property since 1pm, AEL was never there. 2nd why didn't he call when he showed up to tell me all this? 3rd Why then switch from the agreed upon observational report to full on digging and soil samples? Very frustrating, I would not recommend AEL for anything.
